    To some, the Girl Group phenomenon was simply a trend that came and went, but to judge whether or not a fad is truly influential, all you need to do is determine who may have been influenced.

    I don’t think many people would argue that the Beatles rank among the most important musical influences of all time, so things that influenced the Beatles would, by definition, need to be considered influential in their own right. Before the band broke big in America, and within the span of less than a year, the Beatles released two albums in the early ‘60s. Those two albums contained no less than five songs that were previously released by Girl Groups.

    In this show, we cover those songs, along with a few choice others. Songs covered include;

    1) Let Me In – The Sensations

    2) Mashed Potato Time – Dee Dee Sharp

    3) The Locomotion – Little Eva

    4) Soldier Boy- The Shirelles

    5) Baby, It’s You – The Shirelles

    6) Baby, It’s You – The Beatles

    7) Boys- The Shirelles

    8) Boys – The Beatles

    9) Chains – The Cookies

    10) Chains – The Beatles

    11) Devil in His Heart – The Donays

    12) Devil in Her Heart – The Beatles

    13) Please Mr. Postmen – The Marvelettes

    14) Please Mr. Postmen – The Beatles

    15) He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss) – The Crystals
