As the dawn of the new decade began, the rock and roll trends of the 1950s continued into 1960. 

Artists like The Drifters, Marty Robbins, Brenda Lee, and Ray Charles were still popular, but we were now introduced to the twist dance craze, popularized by Chubby Checker. Of course, "The King" was omnipresent throughout the year, as Elvis dominated the #1 Top Spot for 13 weeks with 3 separate hits. But an unexpected artist, Percy Faith and His Orchestra, took the crown for most consecutive chart topper, with 9 straight weeks for his title track effort supporting a major motion picture release.
