As a song, “Imagine” became the bet representation of John Lennon’s solo work, and the same held true for the album of the same name.

After leaving the Beatles, Lennon felt compelled to pursue his political ideas, most of which were informed and/or inspired by Yoko Ono. His views were coming in to focus around the ‘White Album” in 1968, and by 1971, his ideas were starting to gel. Most people hear “Imagine” as a beautiful song about world peace, which is perfectly valid, but Lennon wrote it as a sugar-coated means of conveying his stance against just about everything that held society together.

“Imagine” re-‘imagined’ the world as we knew it, and his ideas came through loud and clear, less the sugar coating, elsewhere on this topical album. Most astounding is how his political ideas still hold water all these years later. Featured tracks include:

    Imagine

    Crippled Inside

    Jealous Guy

    It’s So Hard

    I Don’t Wanna Be a Soldier

    Gimme Some Truth

    Oh My Love

    How Do You Sleep?

    How?

    Oh Yoko
