“Blind Faith” was a supergroup of sorts, hammered together in the wake of Cream’s breakup. Clapton and Winwood were friends and had played together casually, so the circumstances allowed for them to formalize their playing into something cohesive.

At first, Clapton was a bit resistant, as he knew the band would gain instant attention, and he was seeking an opportunity to stay out of the limelight for a while. His apprehension grew worse when he realized that Ginger Baker had somehow managed to wedge his way into the drum seat, thus ensuring that the new group would be seen as an extension of Cream.

The band lasted for only one album, with Clapton leaving to pursue his desire to lay low by playing as a hired hand with Delany and Bonnie. This album is the only official document, then, for this eclectic group. It could have been a masterpiece, had it not been for the filler that ate up most of side two.
