With all of the diversity that was happening with popular music in 1974, it started to become clear that a distinct differentiation was forming between acts that relied on ‘conventional’ styles and those that were trying to trash tradition.

The conventional bands remained enamored with the blues form and usually stuck with standard instrumentation, while the ‘rule breakers’ would be much more reliant on visuals and new ways to present sound. This show will focus on a few of the traditionalists who released records in May 1974.

Next week, we’ll look at a few renegades.

Don’t Ask Me No Questions – Lynyrd Skynyrd (“Second Helping”)

Swamp Music – Lynyrd Skynyrd (“Second Helping”)
