The Life and Music of Jimi Hendrix: A Sudden Ending
Episode 26
Episode date - January 23, 2026
If I were so inclined, I could have continued this Hendrix series for another two dozen shows, but it would have ruined the spirit of my intent.
To be sure, there has been about ten, maybe twenty times as much Hendrix-based music released after his death than while he was living and sadly, most of it was exploitative. We’ve already touched on most of the songs from his first (and best) posthumous album “Cry of Love”, so to go there would be redundant. Further, to play most of the remaining material would demean our intent of focusing on “How Music Changed” (as the series title states) and would also diminish the gloriously awesome work that Hendrix accomplished in his own time.
To that end (literally), we will close out our series with one of Hendrix’s last live performances, while adding a few piecemeal bits that can only suggest what might have been.
