KORN
"Tour with No Name"
Yes I have seen the "Dark Side" and I like it! That’s how I feel after seeing Korn on Friday, June 21st in Connecticut. This is definitely not a show for your average concertgoer. It’s like the apocalypse and Korn Frontman Jonathan Davis it the ringleader. The mood is dark, the music is hard and the angst is at 100%.
This is my third time seeing Korn and let me tell you, the band is still at the top of its game. Davis and company opened up their set with "Here To Stay" . The tune off "Untouchables" features a driving bass line by Fieldy. It’s his distorted bass work and Davis’ voice that makes Korn sounds so demonic. The band’s set also included such hits as "Blind" and "Freak On A Leash" . Hey parents imagine your kids screaming "Dead Bodies Everywhere" ! It’s got to make you wonder about today’s youth?
I’ve got to say that Korn is one of the most exciting rock shows going today.
All you have to do is listen to their performances of "Falling Away From Me" and "Make Me Bad" . The songs off 1999’s "Issues" really showcase the full power of this quintet. And to top it off, their performance of "Make Me Bad" included a Metallica interlude. That’s right, the band broke into "One" . What a surprise! Hey, maybe they’ll tour together sometime? Now that would sure be a show to see!
If you want to get in touch with, as P.O.D. would say, the "Youth Of A Nation" then go see Korn. Now that Rage Against The Machine is gone we need a band that can rally the kids and scare the parents. Hey, that’s what Rock ‘N’ Roll is all about anyway, right?
