I’ll keep this short, since virtually nobody else will ever hear this, or care to. "Forever Since Breakfast" is the very 1st EP released by GBV, and in extremely limited quantities….probably a good move on their part, since they don’t sound quite ready to face the world.
It consists of ‘real’ songs, which is actually a detriment by GBV standards. By their next (and first) LP, they’d devolve to the fractured song pieces that would define the rest of their career, but this disk has seven pieces of music that are recognizable as wholly developed songs…and they’re not so good, really. Two are actually ‘boy-girl’ songs, a trend that most definitely did not last for these guys. The low-fi formula is already well in place here, though; one song ("Like I Do") is virtually unintelligible, mostly because of a television that blares away in the background. "Forever Since Breakfast" is definitely an item that is for collectors only.
