Christy Moore began his career inspired by American rock and roll artists, but turned to the music of his homeland after moving to England and hearing Irish folk songs sung by residents of the Irish ghettos. As such, he is largely responsible for the contemporary awareness of Ireland’s musical legacy. ‘Prosperous" dates from the early seventies, a time when Christy Moore began his transition to traditional Irish arrangements, and the innate sadness and indomitable spirit that defines much Irish music is in evidence throughout this recording.
