How Music Changed Part 141-11: The Beatles Part 11

episode date - November 18, 2011

In America, the album that is most associated with Beatlemania is “Meet the Beatles,” with its iconic black and white photograph of the four ‘moptops’ gracing the cover. The reason, quite obviously, is that it was the first album released by their American label, Capitol Records.

We didn’t know it at the time, but in actuality, “Meet the Beatles” was a slightly revised version of the Beatles second British album, “With the Beatles.” With show #11, we listen to all of the tracks from side one of the unedited British version of this album, while discussing a few of the details that were happening behind the scenes. We also feature the single that released more or less simultaneously – the single that gave birth to the American version of Beatlemania.

Tracks featured include;

1) It Won’t Be Long

2) All I’ve Got to Do

3) All My Loving

4) Don’t Bother Me

5) Little Child

6) Till There Was You

7) Please Mr. Postman

8) I Want to Hold Your Hand

9) This Boy
