How Music Changed Part 139-8: The British Invasion Part 8

episode date - September 10, 2010

In this show we cover only two short months in the summer of 1965. That statistic alone should adequately convey why we consider the British Invasion to be such an important influence on American culture; imagine a time when you could find over twenty viable hits by British artists on the pop charts at the same time.

By now, there’s so much activity that we don’t even have a chance to cover any release by the Beatles! We’ll get back to them next week, but for now, there’s a lot of competition to focus on, so here’s a list of songs covered in today’s show;

1) Wishin’ and Hopin’ – Dusty Springfield

2) Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat – Herman’s Hermits

3) Cast Your Fate to the Wind – Sounds Orchestral

4) Do the Freddie – Freddie & the Dreamers

5) Concrete and Clay – Unit 4 + 2

6) (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction – The Rolling Stones

7) What’s New Pussycat? – Tom Jones

8) (What a) Wonderful World – Herman’s Hermits

9) For Your Love – The Yardbirds

10) Catch the Wind- Donovan

11) Set Me Free – The Kinks

12) Here Comes the Night - Them
