On this show we cover the time period between March and May of 1965 – a relatively short period of time to find a sizeable number of pop hits.
In this case, we’re limiting ourselves exclusively to artists from the British Invasion, so it should be apparent just how strong the British influence had become by the Spring of 1965, as each one of these singles made a significant impact on the charts, as well as on American music fans. Few trends before or since had such a consistent and outstanding impact on the pop charts.
Here’s a list of songs covered today;
1) Heart of Stone – The Rolling Stones
2) What Have They Done to the Rain – The Searchers
3) Eight Days a Week – The Beatles
4) Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey – Gerry & the Pacemakers
5) Goldfinger – Shirley Bassey
6) Red Roses for a Blue Lady – Bert Kaempfert & His Orchestra
7) Yeh Yeh – Georgie Fame & the Blue Flames
8) I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party – The Beatles
9) I’m Telling You Now – Freddie & the Dreamers
10) Game of Love – Wayne Fontana & the Mindbenders
11) Go Now – The Moody Blues
12) Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood – The Animals
13) Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter – Herman’s Hermits
