How Music Changed Part 14-2: Bix, Tram and the Golden Age of Jazz

episode date - May 28, 2010

BIX, TRAM & THE JAZZ AGE, PART 2 So far, when we’ve covered artists who debuted in the ‘20s, the first show usually contains much more conversation than music, because there’s a long back story before the artist starts recording.

Regarding Bix Biederbecke, that holds doubly true, because soon after he started his recording career, a long period of activity took place where he did no recording at all, concentrating instead on touring and such. That is why this show will resemble our first episode, as we set the table for next week.

All tracks feature Bix Beiderbecke except as noted. Today’s songs include;

1) Tia Juana

2) Big Boy

3) I’m Glad

4) Davenport Blues

5) My Pretty Girl

6) Trumbology

7) Clarinet Marmalade

8) Singin’ the Blues

9) Davenport Blues – Ry Cooder
