2000's Decade Overview

With the fears of Y2K behind us, America gripped itself to embrace the brave new world of the oncoming millennium, but change was not immediately forthcoming. The personal computer changed forever the way that we would communicate, and because of the internet, it also provided the groundwork for individuality and the means for self-expression. Unfortunately, it also posed such a significant threat to the recording industry that legal issues suspended most music sites in a quagmire of constitutional law.

As the decade started, it was business as usual on the pop charts, with R&B artists dominating the upper echelon and country artists biting at their heels for attention. Intermingled were a seemingly endless parade of trained pop acts, practicing the trade that they learned on Star Search or Disney’s version of boot camp.
