Albums don’t get much different than these two, and yet – for completely different reasons- I’m very fond of both.
In 1972, Jethro Tull appeared to be on the vanguard of a new type of rock and roll music. Their compositions suggested an affiliation with English folk styles, and yet sounded decidedly progressive. Their talent as musicians was also beyond question.
Meanwhile, in America, Little Feat was adding their own twist to American music styles, turning blues, R&B and country music onto their heads through looking=glass interpretations of the styles that also made them sound more progressive than traditional. Due to their unique sensibilities, both of these albums have aged quite well.
Featured tracks include;
1) Thick as a Brick, Part 1 – Jethro Tull (‘Thick as a Brick’)
2) Easy to Slip – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
3) Cold, Cold, Cold – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
4) Trouble – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
5) Willin’ – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
6) A Apolitical Blues – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
7) Teenage Nervous Breakdown – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
8) Tripe Face Boogie – Little Feat (‘Sailin’ Shoes’)
