The Time Was Summer 1981: Album Tracks - Part 3

episode date - July 6, 2011

This show represents our third look back at album tracks from the Summer of 1981.

We focus mostly on two specific aspects of the times – albums that are very representative of the era that have since drifted into obsolescence, coupled with a few other albums that were generally overlooked in their time, but sound pretty darn good these days.

Of course, you may disagree with our distinctions – we list all featured tracks below, but you’ll have to listen to see if we consider the album ‘dated’ or a ‘sleeper’.

1) Girls on Film – Duran Duran

2) Genius of Love – Tom Tom Club

3) Jack, You’re Dead – Joe Jackson

4) Musta Notta Gotta Lotta – Joe Ely

5) Hard Livin’ – Joe Ely

6) Road Hawg – Joe Ely

7) We Got the Beat – The Go-Go's

8) The Shuttered Palace – Ellen Foley

9) Torchlight- Ellen Foley

10) Always – Tom Verlaine

11) Gringo – Little Feat

12) International Thief Thief – Fela Kuti
