Last week, we took a look at a few singles that defined the pop charts of 1990. Not too much of it was stellar, and I figured we find some reprieve by looking at album tracks from the same era. As it turns out, I guess I wasn’t listening to mainstream album tracks around this time, either.
This show is comprised of stuff from my own collection that was released in the first half of 1990, and very little of it could be considered ‘popular’, at least not in the ‘top of the charts’ sense of the term. Most of this stuff is still obscure, but luckily, I still like most of it, so it gives me some pleasure to play this stuff.
Songs we feature include;
1) Seven Little Indians – John Hiatt (“Stolen Moments”)
2) Hello Mary – David Baerwald (“Bedtime Stories”)
3) Over My Head – Aztec Camera (“Stray”)
4) Cynthia Mask – Robyn Hitchcock (“Eye”)
5) Drinker’s Peace – Guided By Voices (“Same Place the Fly Got Smashed”)
6) The Hard Way – Guided By Voices (“Same Place the Fly Got Smashed”)
“
7) Bhagavan Decreed – The Flatlanders (“More a Legend than a Band”)
8) Dallas – The Flatlanders (“More a Legend than a Band”)
“
9) Graveyard Shift – Uncle Tupelo (“No Depression”)
10) No Depression – Uncle Tupelo (“No Depression”)
“
11) Sexual Telepathy – Earl King (“Sexual Telepathy”)
