After last week’s focus on early Summer 1980 from the perspective of singles and albums, we figured it would make a nice show to complete the coverage by focusing exclusively on a few great album tracks.
While a few of these tracks received recognition in their time, we’ve chosen a few others from this era that you may not have heard. In all, this is representative of what music was like in 1980 – combining classic rock elements with the flavor of new wave music, for a fairly potent combination of styles that still sounds interesting today.
Songs from this show include;
1) Coming In from the Cold – Bob Marley & the Wailers (“Uprising”)
2) She’s So Cold – The Rolling Stones (“Emotional Rescue”)
3) Me, Myself, I – Joan Armatrading (“Me, Myself, I”)
4) Simon – Joan Armatrading (“Me, Myself, I”)
5) Oh Yeah – Roxy Music (Flesh and Blood”)
6) Flesh and Blood – Roxy Music (Flesh and Blood”)
7) Boomerang – T-Bone Burnett (“Truth Decay”)
8) Driving Wheel – T-Bone Burnett (“Truth Decay”)
9) Kingdom of Love – The Soft Boys (“Underwater Moonlight”)
10) Queen of Eyes – The Soft Boys (“Underwater Moonlight”)
11) Underwater Moonlight – The Soft Boys (“Underwater Moonlight”)
